5 things I’ve learned from 5 years of blogging

It’s been exactly 5 years and 3 days since I’ve written my very first post on this blog, so I thought that sharing what I’ve learned from all of these years of blogging would be not a bad idea ;)

So there it is:

Repeat after me and try to remember that, because I won’t say it again. Quality and quantity are equal! If someone says that one is more important than the other – it’s probably because one’s lazy as phuck and that’s his favorite excuse.
400 million instagrammers are active daily and they post an average of 4 million posts an hour. So if you think you need more time to create something worth showing – think again… and that’s only an instagram. You’ve got a few more social media accounts + your blog (of course!) to take care of.

You have no idea how manipulative social media really is. I’m not saying it’s a bad thing, I’m just pointing out the truth. It’s obvious that we all want to share our best angles and nobody’s pointing a phone on a boyfriend’s face during a breakup… yup, it’s obvious and yet we all fall into the trap of dreaming about having this perfect little life of our favorite blogger. Been there, done that!
The pressure of this perfect life is on. And now more than ever. That’s actually the reason I’m covering this topic. Nobody tells you now that it is ok to feel sad, mad or angry. But it is! We are all human at the end of the day, right? ;)

I suck at SEO and… IT’S OK! I mean – If I didn’t I would probably be able to make a living out of this blog after all of these years of posting content, but that’s ok… Writing just to pop up on a 1st page of Google isn’t as important for me as being true to myself and having a real connection with you. If I want to say something – I am not thinking twice. That is just who I am and no algorithm will ever change that!

You’re bulding a brand here, girl, so what’s up with all of these shitty samples you’re saying ‘yes’ to?
I know I sound like a mean bitch sometimes, but how could I make my point more kindly in this case? Please, feel free to tell me, because I literally have no idea.
Sweet princess Zoella one day and an edgy queen la carmina the next? Nah, nobody would buy that. INTEGRITY is key! Keep that in mind next time a brand will reach out to you. The truth is – influencers still have no idea how much power they really have and advertisement on their platforms is often way to cheap, so companies are not nice to you giving you free stuff – they want a cheap labor. 90% of the time it’s really all you are to them… a cheap labor.

It really seems like everybody has a blog now and the competition is high. Comparing yourself to others won’t do much work for you, but your brain will do it anyway. Because it’s one insidious little bastard. It’s important that you’ll always remember why you started in the first place. Is it because you wanted to keep a diary, or maybe your photography skills weren’t that good and you wanted to improve? Whatever the reason was – it once made you happy, right? And time is the most precious thing you have in your life, so spend it wisely… just DO MORE OF WHAT MAKES YOU HAPPY! xx

I LOVE this post! As somebody who just started blogging, life is easy since I don’t even dare to compare me with others and don’t think of SEO at all -I’m just blogging because I really enjoy it. However, I think you nailed it with these 5 advices – I hope I can always keep them in mind! Thanks! xx

This is so useful for any type of blogger, thanks so much for sharing your experience! I also suck at SEO, so it’s nice to know I’m not alone in this! Xx
